As both the Prohibition era and Art Deco era began in the 1920’s, both lasting into the 1930’s, this prohibition cocktail app is based off off the Art Deco style. The combination of these two movements provides the viewer with both a visually pleasing and historically engaging app. In order to create an art deco feel, this app design incorporates some of the main concepts of Art Deco including geometric patterns, dynamic compositions, luxurious and bold colors, metallic ornamentations, and a more modern style. As the Art Deco style commonly employs the use of deep rich colors, and bold, bright, metallic accents, the use of this design style also couples well with the displayed cocktail as the darker cognac base and bright citrus combination of the sidecar cocktail are emulated by the style. Along with the geometric pattern in the background of this app design, the illustrations of each step create dynamic, geometric compositions with the shape of the martini glass and mixers. This app strives to achieve the opulence and luxury of the roaring twenties, along with providing a brief history of the “dry era”.
